News : Unemployment Rate Down In Grundy County

Grundy County has its lowest unemployment rate in five years.

Statistics available from the Division of Employment Security show Grundy
county with an unemployment rate of four point four percent in October – the latest month available for the report. That's based on 222 persons unemployed out of a civilian labor force of five thousand workers in Grundy County.

The last time thejobless situation was lower was in October 2008 when the rate was four point two percent. At that time, Grundy county had more civilian workers (over 6,000) resulting in a higher number on unemployment (259). By comparison to one year ago, the current Grundy county unemployment rate of four point four percent is considerable
lower than in October 2012 when it was six percent. (6.1%)

The statewide unemployment rate for this past October is six and a half percent.

Green Hills counties have unemployment rates ranging from four point one percent in Mercer county up to six point four percent in Linn County.

Others between four and five percent are Sullivan (4.4%), Putnam (4.4%), Livingston (4.6%), Daviess (4.8%) and Caldwell (4.9%). Harrison county's rate is just over five percent (5.1%) for October.
