Both games saw the team that TRAILED at the half rally for the win, and both games had final scores in the 50s. In action heard on Hot Country Z 101.7, the Lady Pirates escaped with a two-point win, with the NCMC men falling by five in a road test.

Sophomore guard Lexi Hope proved to be the difference between a win and a loss for North Central, awakening a slumbering offense with five three-point field goals in the second half, part of an 18 point night, as the Lady Pirates defeated the Lady Spartans 55-53. Freshman center Kayla Oetterer added 15 points in the win for NCMC Southwestern guard Morgan Knorr, a native of Savannah, Missouri, led her squad with 18 points, but missed a potential game-winning three-point shot at the buzzer. North Central, with the victory, improves to 4-2 on the season.

The North Central men lost to Southwestern 57-52, as the Pirate offense slumbered over the first 13 minutes of the second half, scoring only SEVEN points, and opening the door for a Southwestern comeback. Matt Orchard led the Spartans with 15 points, with Elliott Hamdeed and Mataika Koyamainavure each adding 13. North Central had 21 points from Xavier Newson, 13 for Tyler Peterson, and 11 points from Jory Woodson. The Pirates are now 4-3 on the campaign.

Both NCMC teams will travel for games this weekend, with the Lady Pirates in Moberly to play the Greyhounds on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Pirate men participate in the Carl Sandberg Classic in Galesburg, Illinois, taking on Carl Sandberg on Friday night at 8 o'clock, and Black Hawk College West on Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock.
