The Jamesport City Council heard a presentation from Jamesport businesswoman, Gail Ledesma regarding findings from what was described as a small group of merchants on how to improve the community.
They include conducting a feasibility study to expand the city limits by 1 mile in all directions. Another was the possibility of adding a 1/2% sales tax for street repairs. No vote was taken by the council.
Mrs. Ledesma also told the Jamesport Council about Great Northwest Days at the state capital February 4th and 5th. That's the event in which cities and counties from northwest and north central Missouri send representatives to Jefferson City to promote this region of the state. She requested the Jamesport City Council provide $500 to help with Great Northwest Day expenses. The request has been taken under advisement. Jamesport provided $315 last year for the Great Northwest Day efforts.
Mrs. Ledesma's husband, Ron, asked the council to enforce an existing dog ordinance and possibly make the ordinance harsher. Ron Ledesma expressed concern about dogs in his neighborhood. The matter is being referred to a city attorney.
