Official confirmation of the names was still pending at mid-day Friday as The Grundy County Coroner was waiting to receive preliminary autopsy reports.

The bodies were taken yesterday to a Kansas City, Kansas business but, preliminary information concerning the cause of death was not available by noon.

Bob Darby was 79 years old and his wife Judith was 74.  Both were involved in many civic and community activities.  Arrangements are pending and will be announced by Slater Funeral Home.

The house--that some at Spickard--believe to be 100 years old, was a total loss.  When Spickard firefighters arrived at the scene, flames were seen shooting from upstairs windows, eventually gutting the entire structure.

An investigation was conducted yesterday by the state fire marshal’s office but it has not released a report.  The Grundy county sheriff’s department had a deputy at the scene for awhile yesterday morning.   Coroner Dewayne Slater told KTTN that based on those he’s talked with, the fire is believed to be accidental.
