Sports : Milan Steamrolls Slater, 62-12, Setting Up Putnam County Rematch

The Milan Wildcats pounded the visiting Slater Wildcats by a score of 62-12 in Class 1, District 6 quarterfinal football action on Friday night at Cal Hubbard Field. The game was broadcast on KTTN FM 92.3 and www.kttn.com.

Aaron Richardson had 18 carries for 234 yards with a pair of touchdowns, Kevin DeRyke contributed 84 yards on 11 carries, with three scores, and freshman Jaidyn Watts carried the ball three times for 86 yards and two scores in the victory, Milan's ninth straight in the 2013 season.

Quarterback Ryan Keuhn added a touchdown pass, part of a perfect 3-for-3 night for the Wildcat signal caller. The victory sends Milan into the District 6 semifinals, and a home game with the rival Putnam County Midgets on Wednesday night at 7 o'clock (pregame at 6:30 on KTTN FM 92.3). Putnam County beat the visiting Fayette Falcons on Friday night, 42-26. The Midgets had a 30-0 first half lead, but had to hold on in the second half to secure the victory.

Other Class 1, District 6 scores from Friday night were: Salisbury over Princeton 56-0 and Marceline over Braymer 62-0. Marceline will play AT SALISBURY on Wednesday night. The two semifinal winners will play for the Class 1, District 6 title on Monday, November 11th.
