Judge Roger Prokes of Gentry County (in September), found Shumate guilty of 12 felony counts related to sexual abuse of two minor boys. The case was heard in Gentry County on a change of venue from Putnam County. Mercer County Prosecutor John Young served as Special Prosecuting Attorney at the request of the Putnam County prosecutor. Young was assisted by Missouri Assistant Attorney Generals Brent Nelson and Katherine Dolin.
