Accidents : Six Vehicle Accident On I-35 Injures One

A six vehicle traffic accident on southbound Interstate 35 at liberty resulted in minor injuries to one of the drivers.

48-year old Emmett Marlott of Liberty was taken to Liberty Hospital with what the highway patrol called minor injuries. The other drivers, 50-year old Barbara Parker of Polo; 52-year old Daniel Turner of Cameron; 54-year old Wendy Lesniak and 25-year old Martin Salisbury, both of Kearney; and 28-year old John Covey of Lawson were not reported hurt.

The accident occurred Wednesday morning on I-35 north of Highway 152. The patrol reported five of the six southbound vehicles had slowed because of heavy traffic. The southbound pickup truck, operated by Covey hit the rear of a pickup driven by Marlott. The impact resulted in the other vehicles colliding with the vehicle in front of them.

Damage was listed as extensive to the pickups driven by Covey and Marlott, with moderate to minor damage reported to the other Vehicles, two pickups and two cars.

All of the persons were wearing seat belts.
