Sports : Five THS Lady Bulldogs Receive All-District Honors

The Class 3, District 15 runner-up Trenton Lady Bulldogs have four players on the All-District first team, and one on the All-District second team.

First-teamers for the Lady Bulldogs are senior catcher Madi Trump, who hit .450 this season, with 2 home runs, 23 RBI's, and 15 runs scored. Junior shortstop McKinley Hurley is first-team all-district, after a season that saw her hit .431, with 21 runs scored and 16 stolen bases. Senior center fielder Tosha Wilson was named first-team all-district, after hitting .367 this season with 11 RBI's and 17 runs scored. The fourth Lady Bulldog named all-district is junior pitcher Mallory Hooyman. She threw 101 innings this season, striking out 65 batters, with an ERA of 1.51 and a record of 13-4. Senior third baseman Makaila Capeder was a Class 3, District 15 second-team selection.

Trenton, in district play, beat Excelsior Springs in the semifinals and lost in extra innings to Cameron in the championship game. Cameron went onto the playoffs, beat Smithville last Wednesday, but lost 4-3 at Harrisonville on Saturday afternoon.
