Sports : THS Volleyball Struggles At Riverside Tournament

The Trenton High School varsity volleyball team went 0-4 in the volleyball tournament hosted by Riverside High School in Elwood, Kansas on Saturday, with the Lady Bulldogs swept in straight sets in two matches, while managing to earn a third set with St. Joseph Christian.

The Lady Bulldogs lost to South Holt 25-11, 25-20, St. Joseph Christian 25-16, 23=25, 25-22, Mound City 25-14, 25-6, and Troy (KS) 25-17, 25-13.

Trenton's leaders for the day were Alex Ewald with 60 digs and nine aces, Lakisha Hughs with 14 kills, two blocks, and a block assist, Bekah Wiggins with two solo blocks and one block assist, and Malinda Foster with 13 assists.

THS hits the road tonight (Monday night) for matches at St. Joseph Christian High School against the host Lady Lions, starting with the JV match at 5 o'clock. Trenton will HOST Bishop LeBlond on Tuesday night at 5 o'clock (JV and varsity) at the THS gymnasium.
