The North Mercer Board of Education has received an audit report from Certified Public Accountant, Kevin Hudson of Trenton for the past fiscal year.
North Mercer Superintendent, Dan Owens, quoted Hudson saying the school district has committed itself to financial excellence, the district's system of financial planning, budgeting, and internal financial controls are well regarded; and the school district plans to continue its sound financial management to meet the challenges of the future. It also was noted the district had a good operating year.
The North Mercer Board has agreed to continue a sports cooperative with the Princeton School District another 2 years. Princeton will host varsity and junior high school football, and junior high softball. North Mercer will host varsity boys softball.
In other action, the North Mercer Board scheduled Graduation for the afternoon of Sunday, May 11th, at 2 o'clock. That's Mother's Day.
The Board increased substitute teacher's pay by $5 a day. The new rate is $7 a day.
Also approved was a 21st Century grant application.
Concrete is to be poured the remainder of this workweek for an agriculture building to be constructed at North Mercer. Building materials are to arrive next month.
Superintendent Owens said it's expected to take a couple of months to construct the building shell. Bids then would be sought to finish the interior of the structure.
