Sports : Busy Night Of Trenton Volleyball Brings Mixed Success

The Trenton High School varsity and JV volleyball teams hosted Chillicothe on Monday night, while the Trenton Middle School volleyball teams traveled to Kirksville.

The Trenton varsity struggled against the visiting Lady Hornets, falling by a score of 11-25, 11-25. Alex Ewald had an ace, five assists, and 15 digs for THS, with Lakisha Hughs adding up five kills and one block assist from Bekah Wiggins. Sarah Walker had a block. For Chillicothe, Maggie Graves had 6 kills and 4 digs, Lexi Snyder had 4 blocks, Erin Gilliland with 4 digs, Claire Chapman with 13 assists and Hannah Jones with 7 service points.

The Trenton JV lost to Chillicothe 19-25, 21-25. Lyric Nolan had four aces and three kills for Trenton, with Jasmyn French adding a block, Sabrina Yuille three assists, and Morganne Farmer five digs. For the Lady Hornets, Randy Mammen had 3 kills, 10 service points and 4 aces. Blair Hughes had 7 service points and 4 aces.

The Trenton Middle School "B" team won at Kirksville by scores of 26-24, 25-13. Melea Farmer had a huge serving night, scoring 13 of the Bulldogs 25 points in the first set. The "A" team beat Kirksville 25-6, 25-9. Laura Carlson had 14 serving points for Trenton, Ella Leininger nine, Carly Taul eight, and Grace Holcomb six.

TMS is next in action on Tuesday, October 15th, playing at Chillicothe at 5 o'clock.
