The Missouri Department of Social Services will sponsor a free eye screening clinic at the Grundy County Health Department in Trenton October 25th.
The examinations will be conducted by the University of Missouri Hospital and clinics department of Opthalmology Assistance will be provided by the Department of Social Services' Prevention of Blindness unit.
The Department of Social Services says screenings will be held for such visual disorders as cataracts, glaucoma, Diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration, plus
Malformations and malfunctions of the eyes, including crossed eyes.
Persons diagnosed with a visual problem requiring specific treatment and further examination will be referred to local eye care specialists for a follow-up. Prescriptions for glasses will not be issued at the clinic at the Health department.
Individuals meeting prevention of blindness program eligibility guidelines will be assisted by prevention of blindness program staff with necessary eye care services.
The free eye screening clinic will be held October 25th from 8:30 until 3 o'clock at the Grundy county health department at 17th and Lincoln in Trenton Use the community room entrance.
Persons are asked to contact the Grundy County Health Department to schedule an appointment. The department of social services encourages the appointments to be made soon because the eye clinic will be canceled if there's not enough community interest.
