Sports : Carrollton Lady Trojans Spring Extra-Inning Upset Of Trenton, 1-0

The Trenton Lady Bulldog softball team has tasted defeat for the fourth time this season, falling in frustrating fashion on Wednesday night at Carrollton High School by a final score of 1-0.

Trenton sophomore Daryian Otto pitched a gem for the Lady Bulldogs, working around eight Carrollton hits and two walks to shutout the Lady Trojans for 8 2/3 innings, before the winning run scored in the bottom of the ninth.

THS failed to capitalize on a handful of great scoring opportunities, with Lexie Tolson, as part of a 2 for 3 night, left stranded in the third inning after leading off with a double. Trenton loaded the bases in the top of the eighth inning with no runs, and didn't score. Makaila Capeder doubled to lead of the 9th inning, and again Trenton failed to score.

Capeder had one hit in four at-bats for Trenton, while Whitley Richman finished 1 for 2. Trenton, with the loss, drops to 12-4 on the season. Senior Night will be Thursday night at Johnson Field, with the Lady Bulldogs hosting South Harrison at 5 o'clock. On Monday, on Hot Country Z 101.7, Trenton finishes the regular season with a home date against Chillicothe at 5 o'clock. Districts will be played next Wednesday through Saturday (October 9th through 12th) at Danner Park in Chillicothe. Trenton is in Class 3, District 15, along with Cameron, Lawson, Excelsior Springs, Chillicothe, and Richmond. The bracket and seedings should be announced by the end of this week.
