Sports : Boys State Tournament Bracket Released, Play Starts Friday Night

The 2013 Missouri Boys State Fastpitch Softball Tournament will be an eight-team affair, with numbers down in the event this year due to fewer schools participating across northwest Missouri. The tournament will be played at Danner Park in Chillicothe, starting on Friday night.

The HDC Champion Winston Redbirds have the #1 seed in the tournament, with Grundy R-5 seeded second, Jefferson third, and North Harrison fourth. QUARTERFINAL MATCHUPS on Friday night will be: #1 Winston vs. #8 Tina-Avalon at 6 o'clock at the BLUE field, and #2 Grundy R-5 vs. #7 East Harrison at the RED field. The final two quarterfinals will be played at 7:45 on Friday night, with #4 North Harrison against #5 seed North Mercer on the RED field, and #3 Jefferson vs. #6 Newtown-Harris on the BLUE field.

There will be consolation games played in the tournament, those at 10:15 on Saturday morning, followed by the championship semifinals on Saturday afternoon at 12:15. The consolation final and third place games will be at 2 o'clock, with the state championship game, played at Danner Park's RED field, slated for a 3:30 first pitch on Saturday afternoon.

Admission to the state tournament will be $4.00 for adults, $3.00 for students, and FREE for children ages five and younger.
