Sports : Trenton Lady Bulldog Softball Rolls To Victories At Marceline

Trenton traveled to Marceline on Monday night looking to extend their recent success and came away with a 10-0 over the Lady Tigers in 6 innings.

Trenton loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the first but was unable to score. The offense broke through in the top of the second when Megan Lynch sparked the inning off with a single, stole second base and then scored on an RBI single by Whitley Richman. McKinley Hurley would follow with a single and then both runners would score on a double to left field by Tosha Wilson, putting Trenton up 3-0.

Trenton would strike for 3 more in the 4th inning when Ally Ockenfels was hit by a pitch and came around to score on another RBI single by Richman. Richman would score on another RBI single by Wilson and Wilson would score on an RBI single by Madi Trump, putting Trenton up 6-0. Richman would drive home her third run of the game in the 5th after Daryian Otto reached on a Marceline error, putting Trenton up 7-0. Trenton would finish the scoring in the top of the 6th when Trump walked and would come around to score on a wild pitch, Lynch would reach on an error, Ockenfels was hit by another pitch and both would score on a single to center by Lexie Tolson.

Mallory Hooyman turned in another impressive performance on the mound, going all 6 innings, scattering 5 hits and striking out 6. Richman was 3-3 with 2 runs and 3 RBI and a SBMcKinley Hurley finished 1-4 with a run and stolen base, Wilson was 2-4 with a run, SB and 3 RBI, Trump was 1-2 with a run and 2 walks, Lynch was 1-4 with 2 runs, Ockenfels was 0-2 with 2 runs, Otto was 0-3 with a run scored, Tolson was 1-1 with 2 RBI.

The Trenton JV softball team continued its impressive run with a 9-3 win at Marceline. Daryian Otto was the winning pitcher going all 4 innings giving up 3 earned runs on 1 hit and striking out 8. Hannah Kennebeck led the way with the bats for the Lady Dogs going 2 for 2 with a triple and 4 RBIs. Maggie McNabb was 1 for 2 with a run scored. Katerina Black, Jaylen Neff, and Abby Miller each added on a pair of runs, while Emily Lynch had a RBI. The JV team will travel to Cameron Tuesday night with a 5:00 start.

The Trenton Middle School softball teams traveled to Marceline as well. Trenton took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second and Marceline would respond with 3 runs in the bottom of the inning. Trenton would tie the game in the 3rd and take the lead in the 4th. The Lady Bulldogs would tack on 2 runs in the 5th and hold Marceline scoreless from the 2nd inning on to win 6-3. Trenton had 2 hits and 4 stolen bases while Lady Bulldog pitchers struck out 9 batters.

The TMS B squad ended their game in a 4-4 tie. Trenton would collect three hits in the game and strike out 5 Lady Tigers.
