Sponsored by Missouri State Parks, the day’s events will focus on improvement activities in the park, including trail cleanup and other educational activities and games. Volunteers can register to participate at 9:30 a.m. in the lake parking lot.

Event participants will have the opportunity to learn about the importance of water and river ecology while walking the River Forks Trail. A celebration for volunteers is planned at noon at Shelter House 1. Participants at Crowder State Park will join more than 170,000 volunteers that are expected at more than 2,100 sites across the country.

While in the park, volunteers can take advantage of the opportunity to log miles for the Governor‚Äôs 100 Missouri Miles challenge. To celebrate Missouri‚Äôs distinction as the ‚ÄúBest Trails State‚ÄĚ by American Trails and to encourage Missourians to enjoy the outdoors, Governor Jay Nixon and First Lady Georganne Nixon are inviting Missourians to join them in completing 100 Missouri Miles of outdoor physical activity by the end of the year.

Crowder State Park is located west of Trenton off Highway 6. For information about the event, call the park at 660-359-6473. For information about state parks and historic sites, visit mostateparks.com. Missouri State Parks is a division of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
