For a brief moment in Friday night's homecoming game at C.F. Russell Stadium, it appeared the Trenton Bulldogs would make Lafayette County sweat things out in the Huskers attempts to get a road win last Friday night.

Trenton senior wideout Chris Kurtz, courtesy of an 18 yard touchdown catch, had cut the Huskers lead to 12-6, with the extra point by Jonathan Lamp cutting the lead to 12-7 with 8 1/2 minutes to go in the half.

Tom Johnson provided the play-by-play call of the Kurtz touchdown, on Hot Country Z 101.7:

Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, that would be the "high-water break" of the game, as Higginsville blitzed Trenton with three touchdowns in the next 6 1/2 minutes, rolling to a 32-7 halftime lead and extending the winning score to 46-7, dropping the Bulldogs record to 3-1.

Trenton Head Coach Wes Croy noted that the second quarter slump cost the Bulldogs any chance at an upset of the visiting Huskers:

In comparison to past Higginsville teams, this Husker outfit was more workmanlike, but very strong, with depth in the backfield and strong blocking very evident throughout the contest. Colton Williams had three touchdowns on the ground for the Huskers, while the combination of Malcolm Elmore and Marcus Elmore were very difficult to slow down for the Trenton defense, with that duo combining for four touchdowns (three rushing).

Trenton, now 3-1 on the season, will travel to Kansas City's Country Club Plaza area to play the Pembroke Hill Raiders this Friday night at 7 o'clock on Hot Country Z 101.7, www.kgozfm.com, and Internet TV.
