The Livingston County Sheriff's Office has released an update informing the public of their activities.

Incidents:

September 20 we began an investigation of a residential burglary that took place within the last 2 weeks in the 5000 block of Liv 537. The home was forcibly entered and at least the following items were stolen: Yamaha keyboard, Eden Pure Infrared Heater, Troy Built Law Mower, 2 person Hammock, part of an old furnace, and banking and retirement information. Investigation continues.

On September 18 we began an investigation of utility theft from a location in Ludlow. The water district had previously locked the meter due to the utility being shut off. Someone unlawfully removed the lock and since used 3,520 gallons of water in addition to the sewage. We are still attempting to interview the occupants of the home. Investigation continues.

September 16 we began an investigation of stolen firearms from a location in south west Livingston County. The gun safe in the home had forcibly been entered and firearms removed. Deputies recovered the firearms at a private residence in Chillicothe. The matter remains under investigation.

September 15 we began an investigation where two juveniles reported being physically assaulted by an adult male that was reported to be intoxicated. All persons have been interviewed and the report will be submitted to the prosecuting attorney for consideration and direction.

September 12 we began an investigation on the theft of a 12 foot aluminum flat bottom fishing boat and 2 wheel trailer; these were stolen from a location along the Thompson River.

September 12 we received a report of property damage to a mailbox and the stone and concrete foundation. Determined a large vehicle accidentally damaged the private property while turning around. That organization has been contacted to handle the matter.


Arrests:

The evening of September 20, two deputies and a state trooper were in Avalon attempting to serve a felony Livingston County arrest warrant. A female answered the door and told us the suspect was not there and at first denied us the ability to search the home for the fugitive. After further discussion we were able to search the home and found Steven Mack Powers, 55, Avalon, allegedly hiding in a closet. Mr. Powers was served the arrest warrant for alleged Probation Violation on original conviction of class C felony possession of controlled substance-methamphetamine. Bond was set at $25,000. Deputies also arrested Nathana Joeann Woodland, 37, for alleged felony interfering with a felony arrest. Ms. Woodland has since been released with charges expected to be filed in the near future.

September 19 we served a Jackson County and Buchanan County arrest warrant on Jason E. Jones, 38, Chillicothe for alleged check violations. Jones posted bond and was released pending court appearances.

September 16 we served a Livingston County arrest warrant on Casey Aaron Russell, 24, St. Charles MO for alleged Probation Violation on original conviction of Conspiracy to Commit Forgery. Mr. Russell was incarcerated in lieu of $10,000 bond.

Other Information:

The LCSO currently has 35 people in custody 10 of which are female detainees at the Daviess Dekalb County Regional Jail.
