Sports : Trenton HS Volleyball Sweeps Penney For Win #1 in 2013

The Trenton Lady Bulldog varsity volleyball team has found the win column, after a clean sweep of the Penney Lady Hornets, 25-7, 25-20 on Monday night at the THS gymnasium.

Trenton was led in the win by Bekah Wiggins and Sarah Walker with five aces each, Lyric Nolan and Lakisha Hughs with four kills each, Hughs with two blocks, Hayley Mathews and Alex Ewald with five assists each, and Ewald with 11 digs.

The Trenton JV won for the third time in four outings, 25-12, 25-10 over Penney. Leading the Lady Bulldog JV with five aces each were Nikki Hagan and Tomi Delp, with Jasmyn French adding two kills, two blocks, and two assists; Monique Grimes two kills, Hagan two assists and three digs; and Morganne Farmer with three digs.

The Trenton volleyball teams play at Kirksville High School against the host Lady Tigers on Thursday evening at 6:00. The Trenton varsity plays in the Lathrop Tournament on Saturday, looking to find the same success that the 2012 Lady Bulldogs had in a runner-up finish in that event.
