Trenton High School Class of 2010 graduate Aubrey Utley fired a seven-hit shutout for the Central Methodist Eagles, leading her softball team to a 2-0 victory over the Houston-Victoria (Texas) Jaguars in an opening round game in the 2012 NAIA National Championship Tournament in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

The Statewide Law Enforcement Torch Run® for Special Olympics Missouri will include northern Missouri locations such as Trenton, Gallatin, Chillicothe, Cameron, and Brookfield early next week. Law Enforcement officers will be running the torch to raise awareness for Special Olympics Missouri and the 2012 State Summer Games.

Livingston County Health Center is excited to announce the second quarter of educational classes through its Diabetes Program. “What is Diabetes?” will be held on Thursday, May 17th from 1 to 3 p.m. There is no charge for the class.

The Missouri National Guard is planning a more than 30,000 square foot maintenance facility for its armory property in Macon. The Macon Field Maintenance Shop would provide field-level maintenance for all Missouri National Guard vehicles in north-central Missouri.

Kirksville will be a northern Missouri location for a public hearing in an electric rate case filed by Ameren Missouri. The hearing is August 23rd at Truman State University's Student Union Building, in the activities room. A public information/question and answer session will start at 6:00 p.m. with the taking of sworn testimony to follow.

The Lady Wildcats of Southwest High School earned 81 points on Saturday afternoon to claim the team championship at the Class 1, Section 3 event held at Marshall High School. The Concordia Orioles won the boy's event with 124 points, 27 more than the 97 put up by the runner-up Princeton Tigers. The Trenton High School girl's and boy's track teams had an "up and down" day at Class 2, Section 4 competition on Saturday afternoon at St. Joseph Christian High School. The Lady Bulldogs advanced to state in seven events (including five first place finishes), while the Trenton boys advanced in five events (including four firsts).

Trenton High School, competing in the District 16 INDIVIDUAL boy's tennis tournament on Friday at the Noyes Complex in St. Joseph, managed a third place singles finish from Isaiah Swann, while the doubles team of Nathanyl Bankson and Sam Muff settled for fourth place.

During high school graduations held on Sunday at area schools, the top two students at Trenton High School were announced as Valedictorian Karson Hill and Salutatorian Shelby Chaney.

A Gallatin resident was hurt when the car he was driving hydroplaned on a road west of Gallatin, traveled off the pavement, and overturned. Eighteen year old Dillon Axton was taken to Cameron Regional Medical Center. The Highway Patrol said he had MODERATE injuries.
