KTTN/KGOZ News : Bank Of Brookfield-Purdin At Winigan Robbed

The Bank of Brookfield-Purdin at Winigan was robbed yesterday morning of an undisclosed amount of cash. That's according to the Highway Patrol which said no injuries were reported.

Sheriff Smiley said there were four employees and one customer in the bank at the time of the robbery.

Persons with information about the case are asked to contact the Missouri State Highway Patrol at Macon or the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Matt J. Whitworth, Acting United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that two Chillicothe, Mo., men were sentenced in federal court today for participating in a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine in the Chillicothe area.

KTTN/KGOZ News : Green Hills Continue To Lose Population

New census figures confirm what many suspected—that the Green hills area continues to lose more population than it gains. Some of the area cities have experienced significant declines from eight years ago (2000) while others are pretty close to the same level or are down by a small percentage. The latest numbers released yesterday on a U-S Census Bureau internet site are estimates as of July 1st, 2008 and include yearly comparisons back to two-thousand.

KTTN/KGOZ Sports : Chiefs Sign Braymer Native

The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Tuesday that the club has signed fifth-round draft pick T Colin Brown. A native of Braymer in Caldwell County!

Brown (6-7, 335) joined the Chiefs as the club’s fifth-round selection (139th overall) in the 2009 NFL Draft.

He saw action in 43 games (28 starts) at Missouri, where he earned All-Big 12 honors as a junior and senior.

He helped guide the Tigers to their first number one ranking in the AP poll since 1960 and was part of a prolific offense that finished in the nation’s top 10 in total offense his final two seasons. Brown played in three bowl victories and two Big 12 Conference Championship Games during his college career.

The operator of a lawn mower was injured yesterday when according to the highway patrol, he was attempting to cross a Livingston county road and was struck by a car.

The state patrol said 72 year old Raymond Dunlap of Ludlow was taken by ambulance to Hedrick Medical Center of Chillicothe for the treatment of moderate injuries.

Automobile Accidents : Fatal Accident In Bethany

A Bethany man was killed early today when he was thrown out in a rollover accident three miles north of Bethany. The highway patrol identified the victim as 47 year old Mathew Koontz of Bethany who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced the addition of Grundy and Livingston to the list of counties eligible for disaster assistance for damage to public property. The
additional assistance is based on a review by Federal and State disaster recovery officials.

Automobile Accidents : Platte County Fatality

The highway patrol reports one person was killed while walking into the path of traffic on interstate 29 in Platte County.

The victim was identified as 69 year old Robert Lay who address wasn't available overnight to the highway patrol.

A Marceline woman, 24 year old Kirsten Smith, was listed as the driver of the vehicle involved in the car-pedestrian accident just before midnight. She was not hurt. Vehicle damage was listed as extensive.

The patrol said an investigation continues.

a Green city man was killed Saturday when the pickup truck he was driving overturned on Highway 5. 49 year old Roger Shafer was pronounced dead at the scene nearly eight miles north of Milan.
