Juveniles among those rescued in FBI operation that targeted underage sex trafficking

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) – Five children and four adults were rescued during an FBI and local law enforcement operation targeting underage sex trafficking. 

From Oct. 13-16, the FBI’s Kansas City Division and several local law enforcement agencies partnered in Operation Cross Country X. 

The children found were between the ages 15-17 years old. 

Eight cities on both sides of the state line were part of the investigation. 

“The exploitation of a child being sold for sex is an abhorrent crime preying on the innocent and vulnerable,” FBI Special Agent Eric Jackson said. “The FBI is committed to aggressively investigating this threat to children across the nation and the globe.  We will work vigorously with our law enforcement partners to protect and rescue these victims.”

As part of the operation, 12 pimps, and 14 Johns were arrested on state and federal charges. 

The cities included in the investigation were:

  • North Kansas City
  • Independence
  • Overland Park
  • Wichita
  • Topeka
  • Junction City 
  • Kansas City, KS

Police departments and sheriff’s offices located in those jurisdictions assisted with the investigation.
