Judge Jack Peace has a busy day in Division One of Grundy County Circuit Court

Twenty Four year-old Brandy Purscell of Trenton withdrew a prior plea and pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance. Ms. Purscell was sentenced to seven years in prison, to run concurrently with a Livingston County case. Judge Jack Peace retains jurisdiction for 120 days. Ms. Purscell is to be put in institutional treatment.

Forty eight year-old Carol Smart of Spickard pleaded guilty to amended charges of possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. She also pleaded guilty to another charge accusing unlawful use of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor possession of up to 35 grams of marijuana. She pleaded guilty to misdemeanor second degree endangering the welfare of a child.

Ms. Smart was put on five years probation after execution of a six year prison term was suspended. She also was given county jail time with credit for already serving that time.

Ms. Smart was required to pay two hundred dollars to the law enforcement restitution fund.

Seventeen year-old Shawn Ward of Cameron pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. Ward was put on five years probation after execution of a three year prison sentence was suspended. Ward is required to pay two hundred dollars to the law enforcement restitution fund.

Twenty five year-old Joshua Roseman of Kansas City admitted violating his probation. The probation was revoked and Roseman was sentenced to four years in prison.

Perry Baden of Oak Grove admitted violating his probation. The probation was revoked and Baden was given three years in prison.

Fifty seven year-old Mac Rakes of Trenton was sentenced to four years in prison after his probation was revoked.

Twenty five year-old Sharmin Ceradsky of Trenton admitted violating her probation. The probation was revoked, but she was put back on probation for five years after execution of a seven year prison sentence was suspended.

Forty one year-old Miriah Butler of Trenton is to have a one day jury trial August 2nd on a charge accusing her third degree domestic assault.
