Grundy County Jewett Norris Library will again offer a summer reading program for area children. Plans have been made for signup day on Saturday, May 21st, as Children’s Librarian Charity Halstead told KTTN Open Line Moderator John Anthony:

Madison Brown is the young adult librarian:

Late signups also will be allowed for the summer reading program.

Charity Halstead tells us about the age group meeting schedule beginning next week:

There will be opportunities for children to earn rewards when accumulating reading hours:

For students entering 3rd through 6th grades AND the older group of 7th through 12th graders, a drawing for prizes will be held each week. To be eligible for the drawing those students must read at least eight hours a week and attend their library program that week. Last year, 200 kids signed up with regular participation by approximately half of them. This year, the organizers hope at least three fourths of the signed up kids will be regular participants in the summer reading program at Trenton at Jewett Norris Library.

In addition to the regular weekly Thursday and Friday sessions, several special events are planned in keeping with the theme of health and fitness.
