Mayor Jack Turner told the city council Monday evening that the City of Jamesport is receiving a community development block grant from the state for street improvements.

The amount is $146,000 and officials say progress will begin after all paperwork has been signed including the agreement on a grant-administration contract with the Green Hills Regional Planning Commission.

At the meeting last night in Jamesport, Jim Trimble gave a copy of the legal description and survey of the property that was donated to the Jamesport City Park. Just over one-third of an acre (.36) was given to the park for the ball field addition.

Steve Shoots and Steve Holt of the Chillicothe company called “Community Fund Works” gave a summary to members of the Jamesport council on what their business does to help nonprofits and towns with grant writing.
