A Richmond woman was injured in a traffic accident yesterday afternoon four miles east of Chillicothe.

The highway patrol reports 42-year-old Angela Stith was a passenger in a sports utility vehicle that had turned onto eastbound U-S Highway 36 when it was struck by an eastbound pickup causing Ms. Stith to receive moderate injuries.

She was taken by an ambulance to the Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe and the driver of the SUV, 50-year-old Richard Stith of Richmond, wasn’t hurt.

The patrol also noted a granddaughter, Priscilla Stith – an infant less than 1-year-old – was spared from injury due to being secured in an approved child safety seat.

The operator of the pickup 42-year-oldld Andrew Lane of Moberly also wasn’t hurt in the accident.

The highway patrol noted as the sports utility vehicle from Richmond was accelerating to the speed limit, the pickup truck crested a hill and struck the rear of the SUV. The SUV stopped off the south side of the highway; the pickup came to rest in the median of U-S 36.

Extensive damage was listed for both vehicles in the accident at 2:35 pm Monday.
