Ice on roadway contributes to 5 Friday night accidents

Slick spots contributed to Friday night accidents.

An accident one mile south of Green City injured 37-year-old Kevin Powell of Green City when a Missouri Department of Conservation truck slid off Highway 129 and overturned onto its passenger side. He was to seek his own treatment.

A Marceline resident, 21-year-old Kyle Ayers, received minor injuries when a pickup left Highway 6 two miles east of Green City, struck a ditch, and overturned. He was to seek his own treatment. The pickup was driven by 18-year-old Nicki Boone of Marceline. The highway patrol said ice and snow on the roads near Green City contributed to the Friday night accidents.

Snow on Interstate 35 in Harrison County contributed to a rollover accident that injured 34-year-old Welder Bernal-Hernandez of Kansas City. The pickup slid off the road and overturned coming to rest upright in the median. The patrol listed injuries as minor. He was taken Friday night to Harrison county community hospital in Bethany.

Another accident resulted in 30-year-old Kalliah Griffin of Albany going to the hospital in Bethany after her car began to rotate on ice, crossed the center of Highway 136 before coming to a stop. Her injuries were listed as minor.

Some ice reported on Highway 33, five miles south of Maysville, contributed to a rollover accident late Friday night that left 19-year-old Shaunda Murphy of Kearney with minor injuries. She was taken to Cameron Regional Medical Center. The SUV traveled off the road, struck an embankment, and overturned onto the driver’s side.
