Swan Lake National Wildlife Refuge will sponsor a Hunter Education skills course on Tuesday, September 13th from 6 to 8:30 PM at the Swan Lake Visitor Center, two miles south of Sumner.  People taking the course are to register online with the Missouri Department of Conservation.  That can be found at www.hunter-ed.com/missouri.

Once completed, people can take their certificate to the September 13th skills course.  Included are topics of gun safety, firearms and ammunition information, the role of the hunter, wildlife management, ethics, and hunter preparedness.

Hunter Education certification is mandatory in order to get a hunting license, for anyone born on or after January 1, 1967.

The class at Swan Lake is offered to anyone eleven years of older who completed the online course.  Also needed at the class will be your Social Security Number, hunting/fishing license, youth tags, and/or heritage card, and – as we stated earlier – the certificate showing you have completed the online skills course.
