The Daviess County Sheriff’s Department says numerous human bones recovered near Pattonsburg will be receiving DNA testing by a Kansas City crime lab.  On Monday afternoon, the department responded to the area of Interstate 35 and Granite Avenue near Pattonsburg, where a local farmer discovered a shotgun and possible human bones in his field.

The scene was processed by the sheriff’s department and Daviess County Coroner, with the bones recovered in that process.  The firearm involved was confirmed to have been stolen from the Kansas City (Missouri) Police Department.

The discoveries on Monday, near Pattonsburg, is related to the Kansas City police car that was found abandoned south of Pattonsburg on I-35, near the 75 mile marker in August 2014.
