Harrisonville High School freshman killed in Tuesday afternoon accident

A 14-year old freshman from Harrisonville High School, Corey L. Turner, was killed on Tuesday afternoon, after being hit by an out-of-control SUV on East Elm Street in Harrisonville.

The Missouri Highway Patrol reports that Turner was walking on the sidewalk in the 1100 block of East Elm Street, just blocks west of Harrisonville High School, when a 1980 Chevrolet Blazer went off the road, into a ditch, crossed back across the pavement, and struck Turner.  The driver the SUV, reported to be 17 years old, then crashed into a nearby house.

No injuries to the 17 year old were noted in the report, which did identify both the driver and the victim as Harrisonville High School students.

Turner was transferred to Cass Regional Medical Center in Harrisonville, where he was pronounced dead.
