Grundy County Sheriff: 3 face drug/theft charges in Trenton

A former Mercer resident, 41-year-old Ricky Shoemaker of Trenton, and a 52-year old Trenton resident, Michelle Curtis, each has been charged in Grundy County with possessing methamphetamine and concealing a small plastic baggie of methamphetamine at the Grundy County Detention Center.

The charges accuse Shoemaker of those infractions on October 19th with Ms. Curtis accused on Sunday, October 23.

The charges against Shoemaker say he is a prior and persistent offender by pleading guilty to, being found guilty of, or convicted of driving while intoxicated in Grundy County in 2009, and three counts of stealing in Grundy County in 2002.

Ms. Curtis is accused of being a prior offender by pleading guilty to, and being convicted of, possessing a controlled substance in Livingston County in 2012.

Bond for Shoemaker and Curtis is $20,000 cash only with each scheduled to appear in Associate Division of Grundy County circuit court November 8th.

30-year-old Trenton resident, James Harding, has been charged in Grundy County with stealing and second-degree burglary, on October 19th, and possession of morphine on October 23.

Harding is accused of appropriating a laptop and two tablets owned by Richard Houk and Amy Peterie, as well as being accused of, for the purpose of stealing, unlawfully entering a structure at 1423 Mable in Trenton owned and/or possessed by Richard Houk and Amy Peterie.

The stealing charge said Harding previously pleaded guilty to or was found guilty, of two stealing-related offenses, one each in Livingston and Dekalb Counties in 2015.

The possession of morphine charge said Harding is a prior offender by pleading guilty to and being convicted of burglary in Grundy County in 2009.

21-year-old Jordan Cabra of Trenton has been charged in Grundy County with failure to appear in court on drug charges. Bond was set at $15,000 cash only with Cabra to appear November 10th in Division One of Grundy County circuit court.
