The President of the Grundy County Nursing Home District’s Board of Directors, Barbara Cox, has presented Larry Griffin with a plaque that recognizes his 20 years of services.  Griffin has served as the District’s Chairman for 11 years, Vice President seven years, and Secretary-Treasurer one year.

Sunnyview Nursing Home Administrator Donita Youtsey said Griffin has been “instrumental in meeting two bond obligations and in an expansion of the residential care apartments”.

Also at this week’s Board of Directors meeting, there was discussion about staff education.  It will focus on management training for charge nurses, and employee retention.  A report has been given on “Path Changers”, an in-house group of residents and staff members described as “addressing the change in culture in nursing home care”.  The group is said to be raising funds to accomplish its goals, including painting and decorating the “Golden Oldies Avenue” shower room to make it more spa-like.

This month’s Sunnyview fundraiser includes offering massages for families, staff, and residents on Friday, March 25th and Monday, March 28th, between 8 and 5 o’clock.  Interested residents, family, and community members can contact the Sunnyview Business Office.

Sunnyview will host the Easter Bunny this afternoon (Thursday, March 24th) from 2 to 3 o’clock, with free pictures offered.
