The Green Hills Women’s Shelter in Trenton needs multiple items.

Volunteer Barbara Spencer explains that since the organization is a 501(c)(3), it has to rely on government grants and donations from the public.

She says the shelter always needs disposable items, including laundry detergent, dryer sheets, paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap, cleaning supplies, trash bags, coffee, sugar, Ziploc bags and light bulbs.

Personal care items are needed as well as larger size diapers.

Furniture, sheets, bunk beds, TVs, pots, and pans, mixing bowls are needed as well to help the families set up in new homes.

Spencer adds that the shelter also needs sexual assault kits, which include new packages of women’s underwear, socks, assorted bras, and sweats and yoga pants in assorted sizes.

She says anything individuals would buy for their homes, the shelter could use and notes that individuals can also donate money and gas cards.

She explains that transportation is important for the individuals the shelter helps. If they do not have a way to get to or back from work, it can become a critical problem.

Call the Green Hills Women’s Shelter at 660-359-3297 for more information regarding donations.
