Governor Eric Greitens this week, signed a bill into law relating to decreasing burdensome regulations for county governments.

Promoters of the legislation noted county commissioners have struggled to keep up with maintenance and other costs associated with public cemeteries, due to restrictive government regulations.

House Bill 51 removes these restrictions by expanding investment tools that county commissioners can use to raise funds.  This will help maintain the beauty and dignity of public cemeteries.

The Governor’s office credited two Northwest Missouri lawmakers as being instrumental in passing the legislation: 1st District State Representative Allen Andrews of Grant City who represents some counties in extreme northwest Missouri and 12th district State Senator Dan Hegeman of Cosby who represents counties in northwest and north central Missouri.
