Gallatin City Council busy at latest meeting

The Gallatin City Council approved an ordinance adopting and enacting a new chapter 210 for offenses and providing repeal of inconsistent provisions at its meeting Monday evening.

The council also approved a motion to authorize Mayor Barb Ballew to sign the approval to alter the Arland and Mary Haynes Revocable Trust document. Ballew signed change order number two for the water plant construction contract approved at the previous city council meeting.

City Administrator Tony Stonecypher said he plans to review the city’s financial statements with the USDA grant specialist.

Stonecypher is working on the grant application for the bucket truck for the Friends of Gallatin not-for-profit organization.He will focus on the cupola building’s roof repairs next.

Public Works Director Mark Morey reported that the street department completed shoulder work to help with storm water drainage on West Grand.

Morey said the street department is still patching potholes and the filters at the water plant were cleaned.

Tubes need to be replaced at the MM and North Daviess golf course entrance.

Morey said he is waiting on tree trimming quotes for Richardson, Olive, David, Shona, Johnson, Main, and East Corrine. He is also waiting on quotes for LED security lights.

Selling the pavement layer and purchasing a $24,000 chip and seal machine was discussed.

The Gallatin City Council heard a report from Police Chief Mark Richards on activity from February 8 through 27.
