The Gallatin Board of Aldermen approved three ordinances, two appointments, and an update to the bylaws at its meeting Monday evening.

One ordinance approved authorized the mayor to enter into a contract for services with the Daviess County Arts Council. Another authorized the Mayor to sign and execute the joint development agreement with Friends of Gallatin. The third ordinance amended the annual budget for the city for the fiscal year 2017 to adjust appropriations and/or expenditures in various funds.

Joe Griffin and Allan Lundsford were appointed to the Planning and Zoning Board.  Griffin’s term will last until June 2020, and Lunsford’s until 2021.

The bylaws were updated to allow the Dockery Park Board to exercise supervision over all recreation programs within the park system as well as to allow the hired sports coordinator to make minor purchases based on available budget funds.  Purchases of more than $500 must be presented to the Park Board at a regular meeting for approval.

The board heard a report from City Administrator Tony Stonecypher on Johnson and Jackson Streets, reinforcement steelwork at the water plant, the stage truck delivery, and a rough draft of the code book.

Police Chief Mark Richards also gave a report and the board moved into a closed session.
