The Gallatin Board of Aldermen accepted two ordinances at its meeting Tuesday evening.

One ordinance authorized the Mayor to sign and execute the solid waste contract with Rapid Removal. The contract will be in place for three years and the monthly fee to the customer will be $13.12 per month.

The second ordinance authorized the Mayor to sign and execute the outage restoration agreement with Farmers’ Electric Cooperative, Incorporated.

The board reviewed the May Financial Review and accepted the Water Plant Contractor’s Application for payment of more $161,317.94.

It also accepted the 2016 audit report from CPA John Gillum.

A possible sewer issue on West Berry was reported.

City Administrator Tony Stonecypher will contact the bidder for the cupola roof repairs.

Stonecypher also gave an update on the public works department and reported that the Daviess County Library will host an eclipse event on the square.

The library requested to shut down a section of Grand Street, and the electric department will shut off the automatic street lights for the event.

The board discussed the increasing issue of illegal U-turns around the square. Police Chief Mark Richards will watch for offenders.

Mayor Barb Ballew will review possible Park Board appointments and provide recommendations at the next meeting.

The board entered into a closed session.
