The U. S. Department of Agriculture announced that the nomination period for local Farm Service Agency county committees will run from June 15th to August 1st.

County committees are made up of farmers and ranchers elected by producers in their communities to guide the delivery of farm programs at the local level.

Committees consist of 3 members and meet once a month or as needed to make decisions on disaster and conservation, emergency, and commodity price support loan programs as well as county office employment and other agricultural issues.

Members serve three-year terms.

Farmers and ranchers may be nominated by themselves, organizations, or others.

Individuals must participate or cooperate in an agency administered program and reside in the local administrative area where the election is held.
