A two vehicle collision yesterday north of Carrollton resulted in the death of one elderly resident and injuries for the two drivers.

The highway patrol reports a passenger, 96-year-old Winnie Cauble of Carrollton, was fatally injured.  She was pronounced dead at Carroll County Memorial Hospital 40 minutes after the accident which happened about 1 pm Monday afternoon.

Cauble was a passenger in a southbound car driven by 70-year-old Larry Cauble of Carrollton. The other car was driven by 78-year-old Roger McWilliams of Carrollton. Both men received what the highway patrol called moderate injuries and were taken to the hospital in Carrollton.

Investigating officers report McWilliams was northbound on U.S. Highway 65 when he attempted to make a left turn into a business but was struck by the oncoming southbound car.

Both vehicles were demolished in the accident at County Road 220.  The report noted McWilliams and Ms. Cauble were using seat belts, however, Larry Cauble was not.

Carroll County deputies assisted the highway patrol.
