Crash in northeast Missouri claims 1 life, injures 3

A car overturned several times Saturday night in northeast Missouri claiming the life of one teenager and seriously injuring three others.

Fatally injured was a passenger, 15-year-old Joshua Kennison of Shelbyville.

Seriously injured were the driver, 17-year-old Nicholas Von Thun of Shelbyville, and passengers 16-year-old Trystin Pratt and 14-year-old Jakob Pratt, both of Shelbyville.

The driver, Nicholas Von Thun, was transported to Hannibal Regional Hospital, while Trystin and Jakob Pratt were flown by medical helicopter to University Hospital in Columbia.

The accident happened nearly five miles east of Shelbyville on Highway 168 when the westbound car went off the right side of the road, the driver overcorrected, the vehicle then went off the left side of the road and overturned numerous times before coming to rest in a field.

The patrol noted none of the four occupants were wearing a seatbelt as all four were thrown from the vehicle.

The car was demolished.
