It was a busy day serving up 859 meals when the Union Coon Creek Baptist Church west of Trenton held its 21st annual free Thanksgiving dinner Thursday.

Diana Crawford said 250 people ate at the church and 609 meals were delivered.

Those eating at the church added to that menu by providing vegetables, salads, and desserts when they arrived.

Crawford said around 50 people volunteered to deliver meals or work in the kitchen with the meals mostly funded by donations.

Forty-eight turkeys were prepared which included smoked turkey breast.

It was reported by the church that the day went smoothly with the public giving high marks to the food.
