Christmas Parade to roll Saturday, November 5 in Trenton

A King and Queen have been announced to ride in Saturdays’ Christmas Parade in Trenton November 5th.

The ninth annual Festival of Trees is sponsored by the Gifted group and Trenton Heroe’s – both of which have developmentally disabled citizens. Representing them in the parade are King Dalton Trask and Queen Rachel McCarter. They are to ride with a horse and carriage provided by DKJ Construction.  Santa, portrayed by Brian Richmond, is to ride on a Trenton Fire Department vehicle. Other entries for the 4 o’clock parade include the high school band, the sheriff’s office, the magic machine of Trenton Cinema, Danny Stevens Excavating, Barnes Baker, and Families and Friends of the Developmentally Disabled. The parade leaves Eastside Park, travels 10th Street, Oklahoma Avenue, 17th, Normal, and ends at the Rock Barn.

Doors to the Rock Barn open at 5 o’clock Saturday for the viewing of trees, wreaths, and baskets for the auction; the entertainment; booths; and concession stand. Entertainers so far include Maci Henson, Toni Allen, Connie Olmstead, Case Otto, Ella Leininger, Claire Utley, Emma Gilham and the THS band.

Scott Roy begins the public auction at 7 o’clock. Proceeds from the events, including donations, benefit the THS band which marches in a Thanksgiving Day parade in Houston, Texas. Activities also include horse and carriage rides, kettle corn, a photo booth, making of Christmas ornaments, painting Santa plates, balloon making, face painting, candies, cookies, cinnamon rolls, and more.
