Chillicothe teen transported to hospital after crash in attempt to avoid animal in road

A Chillicothe teen was hurt when she swerved the car she was driving to miss an animal on Route D south of Ludlow and the car went off the road.

17-year old Mary Rounkles of Chillicothe was taken to Hedrick Medical Center with moderate injuries.

The accident happened Saturday night two miles south of Ludlow when Rounkles swerved the northbound car to miss an animal on the road causing the vehicle to cross the centerline, swerve back to the right and off the right side of the pavement. The car hit an embankment with its front bumper, spun counterclockwise, hit the embankment with its rear bumper, returned to Route D, went off the opposite side of the road, and came to rest on its wheels.

The car was extensively damaged and it was noted that Rounkles was wearing a seatbelt.
