Chillicothe man takes his own life Monday in reported shooting incident

Fatal Shooting

Chillicothe Police have released a report on the shooting death of a man at a Chillicothe residence Monday, and the Livingston County Coroner has released the name of the individual.

He’s identified by Coroner Scott Lindley as 41-year-old Justin Lynn Ishmael of Chillicothe with arrangements pending at the Lindley Funeral Home of Chillicothe.

At approximately 12:20 Monday, Chillicothe Police responded to what was described as a domestic dispute call in the 1100 block of Grandview in Chillicothe. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the reporting party, discovering that another person was inside the residence.

According to a news release today by Police Detective Jon Maples, officers also learned of weapons in the residence, as well as their location, however, the weapons were not in the location as claimed by the reporting individual.

As officers were attempting to locate the other individual inside the home, Maple said officers reported hearing a gunshot. A search of the home revealed a male with a single self-inflicted gunshot wound. Chillicothe emergency services were called to the scene, attempted life-saving measures, but were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead at his home.

Justin Lynn Ishmael is believed to be a former Trenton resident.
