Chillicothe Farmers Market to hold annual meeting tonight

The Chillicothe Farmers Market holds its annual meeting tonight with an agenda that includes planning and budgeting for advertising and events, determining dues, and electing officers and board members.

The meeting is tonight at 7 o’clock at FCS financial building’s meeting room at 2880 Highway 65 north.

Two other events are to be held before the meeting. Those new to farmers marketing who are interested in selling at the market are encouraged to attend a question and answer session at 6:15 this evening.

Those interested in selling processed food at the market are encouraged to attend a food vendor certification and annual renewal session at 6:30 tonight. Items such as baked goods, jams, and jellies make in a home kitchen may be sold at the farmers market once the certification is fulfilled.

Those interested in selling frozen meats and eggs also are encouraged to attend to learn about requirements for those items.

Market Master Beth Weidner says all bonafide growers and producers of quality foods from Livingston and surrounding counties are welcome to attend the meetings and sell at the market.

Items that can be sold include locally grown whole fresh vegetables and fruits in season or extended season; herbs and spices; plants, flowers, specialty or value added products including honey and jams; fresh whole eggs; Frozen meats; baked items; and arts and crafts grown, processed, or produced by the member.
