The Chillicothe Police Department responded to the burglary of a business in the 2700 block of Grand Drive on Tuesday morning, where officers determined that, in addition to the burglary, the building had been damaged, with a large amount of money stolen.

Officers, in the process of their investigation, located the suspect’s vehicle and found evidence of the burglary, all in close proximity to the crime scene. Video surveillance further showed that the owner of the vehicle found did commit the burglary.

Less than one hour after the burglary, officers located the suspect, James Spath, in the 600 block of Washington Street.  Spath was subsequently arrested, with the stolen money recovered.  Spath was processed at the Chillicothe Police Department, then transferred to the Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail in Pattonsburg, where he is being held on a Livingston County warrant for second-degree burglary and stealing.  Bond is $50,000 cash only.
