One of the new events during next weeks’ North Central Missouri Fair at Trenton is a chicken barbecue contest.

A former member of a Grundy County 4-H club (Oak Leaf Achievers), Jacob Hall of Trenton is the contest chairman. Hall has participated in previous barbecue chicken cooking contests on the state and national levels.

Hall is coordinating a local contest next Wednesday, August 3rd, at the livestock pavilion on the fairgrounds. Competition is open to persons from 14 to 18 years of age as of January 1st this year who are enrolled in any 4-H project. The cooking area will be assigned and set up will be allowed from 8:30 to 9:30 Wednesday morning.

Participants will be required to barbecue two chicken halves. Judges will evaluate the finished product. Ribbons will be awarded.

Contestants are allowed to have one adult parent or leader supervise and assist during set up time. However, the cooking of the chicken and handling of the product is restricted to only the contestant.

Persons may pre-register with, and get more rules from, Jacob Hall for the barbecue chicken cooking contest – especially if they need a barbecue grill in order to compete. They can use their own grills as long as certain specifications are met.

The cell phone number for Jacob Hall is 654 3599.
