Charity softball tournament nets over 3K for Backpack Buddies program

The North Missouri Emergency Services Charity Softball Tournament in Trenton Saturday raised over $3,000 for the Backpack Buddies program.

The Backpack Buddies program provides weekend food and snacks for school children qualifying for free or reduced lunches and is designed to help children who may not have access to proper nutrition at home.

Seven teams participated in the tournament, which had a $150 dollar entry fee.

Blake Darnell’s team from Princeton placed first, ATF from Kansas City was second, the Smoking Bases squad placed third, and the Trenton Fire Department was fourth. Then came teams entered as Eastview Manor, the Galt Fire Department, and the Trenton Police Department.

The tournament was sponsored by Chumbly’s and Hy-Vee of Trenton, Smithfield of Milan, and Marko’s Meats of Princeton.
