The highway patrol says multiple charges are pending against one of two drivers involved in an accident Sunday afternoon in rural Carroll County.

The highway patrol’s arrest report accuses 42-year-old Matthew Hirt of Miami, Missouri of multiple violations after the southbound car he was driving, crossed the center line on Highway 41 and struck an oncoming vehicle.

The patrol listed injuries as minor for Matthew Hirt as well as the other driver, 57-year-old Mark Bruce, also of Miami, Missouri. Both were taken to the Carroll County Memorial Hospital in Carrollton.

Both of the vehicles were demolished in the 4:20 Sunday afternoon wreck.

The highway patrol accused Matthew Hirt of driving while intoxicated for drugs; second-degree assault; felony possession of a controlled substance; and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.

Other allegations from the highway patrol include hindering prosecution or destruction of evidence, lane and registration violations, and no seat belt.
