A traffic accident involving two-tractor trailer units and a car in eastern Jackson County injured two eastern Missouri residents.

The driver of the car, 18-year-old Elizabeth Greiner of O’Fallon, and a passenger in the car, 19-year-old Sophia Otten of Florrisant, were taken to Centerpoint Hospital in Independence with minor injuries.

The two truck drivers, 57-year-old Roger Neal of Brookfield and 46-year-old Patrick Herp of Grand Rapids, Michigan, were not reported hurt.

The accident happened Friday during the noon hour on Eastbound I-70 about one mile west of Oak Grove as traffic was slowed in front of those vehicles when the truck driven by Neal hit the rear of the car operated by Ms. Greiner pushing the car into the rear of the truck operated by Herp. The car was embedded under the towed unit of the truck.

The patrol reports the car was demolished, the tractor-trailer unit operated by Herp had extensive damage, and the Freightliner driven by Neal had moderate damage.

Neal and Herp were wearing seatbelts, however, Greiner was not.
