The Highway Patrol reports a Brookfield man did not receive any injuries as the result of a three-vehicle accident in Jackson County early Friday afternoon.

Traffic was slowed in front of the vehicles on eastbound Interstate 70 near mile marker 27 when the Freightliner driven by 57-year-old Roger Neal struck the back of a car driven by 18-year-old Elizabeth Greiner of O’Fallon, which pushed her vehicle into the towed unit of a Freightliner driven by 46-year-old Patrick Herp of Grand Rapids, Michigan. All vehicles came to a controlled rest on the right shoulder.

Neal’s vehicle sustained moderate damage, Greiner’s car was totaled, and Herp’s Freightliner received extensive damage.

Greiner and her passenger 19-year-old Sophia Otten of Florissant were transported to Centerpoint Hospital in Independence with what the Patrol called minor injuries.

The Patrol reports all involved wore seat belts at the time of the accident, except Greiner.
